An exciting school year stretches ahead, and I’m glad I’ll be sharing it with you and your child. Since I will be working closely for nine months with your child, I would like to give you a small picture of myself. I grew up in Homewood, Illinois with my mom, dad, and younger brother, Tim. I loved living in a suburban environment. We were only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the awesome city of Chicago. I received both my B.A. and Masters from the University of Missouri. After my husband finished law school in 2003, we moved to Kansas City. Our first son, Oliver, was born March 25, 2008. Our second son, Charlie, was born May 29, 2012. It is so fun to watch our boys learn and grow so quickly. We also have a new puppy—a Boxer named Dixie! I have many plans for your child to motivate, stimulate and enrich his/her learning experiences this year. I look forward to working with your child and meeting you. We have a lot in common—doing what is best for your child to succeed.

Hi everyone! I am so excited to begin another year at English Landing. I attended Park Hill and graduated from South in 2000. After graduation, I attended Maple Woods for two years because I completed the A+ program. I ended up transferring to MU where I got my Bachelor's in Psychology and my Teaching Certificate.
I began teaching third grade in Blue Springs in 2007. After my first year of teaching, I was accepted into an online graduate program through Mizzou called Mental Health Practices in Schools. This program really fused my two passions: psychology and teaching. I received my Master's in Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology in 2010.
I loved working in Blue Springs, but knew eventually I'd like to end up in Park Hill. My husband, Jimmy, and I live in Platte City with our three year old daughter, Rylee and one year old son, Nash.
I look forward to working with you this year!

It is great to be an English Landing Eagle, and I am excited for the 2015-2016 school year!

I grew up in Kearney, MO and attended the Kearney Schools all thirteen years. After graduating from high school, I moved north to Maryville, MO where I attended Northwest Missouri State University. I graduated in December of 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Deaf Studies. I will be graduating in May of 2016 with a Master's of Education in Differentiated Instruction from William Jewell College.
I enjoy traveling, shopping, working out, and spending time with family and friends.

My name is Gitta Van Berkum and I am excited to be the newest member of theFourth Grade team. While I recently graduated from Rockhurst University with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, I am not new to Park Hill. I have been a lifelong resident of the Northland attending Park Hill High School until I graduated in 1991. From there I attended Iowa State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. After college I did social service work for Synergy Services as well as the Missouri Department of Family Services. For the last 11 years I have been a teacher’s aide at Hawthorn Elementary.
I currently live with my husband Leon, my fifteen year old daughter Olivia and my eighteen year old son Brenden (who will be leaving to attend Mizzou in the fall). I am eager to become a member of the English Landing family and get better acquainted with fourth grade students and families.
