Key Procedures
Arrival /Dismissal Procedures
Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. and dismiss at 3:30
p.m. Students are not permitted in the building prior to 8:30 a.m.
or after 3:40 p.m. unless attending a school-sponsored activity. Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students
arriving before the first bell at 8:30 may wait in the First
Grade alcove and Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade students may
wait in the Third Grade alcove. Breakfast will be
available in the cafeteria at this time. Those students who arrive
after the 8:40 a.m. bell will receive a tardy slip from the office to take to
class.
Signing Out
When it is necessary for you to pick up your child during school
hours, please come to the office and follow the sign-out
procedure. Your child will then be called to the office to meet
you. Adults signing out students will be asked to produce picture
identification if not recognized by school personnel.
Transportation Changes (Elementary Handbook
page 13)
If there is a need to change your child’s regular
transportation, please send a written note, an email, or notify the office no
later than 2:30 p.m. the day of the change.
Students may not ride a different bus to an alternate
destination.
Medication
All prescription medication must have the label attached by the
pharmacist/physician and will include the child’s name, the name of the
medication and the dosage, and the physician’s name on the
container. Any change in the time or dosage of a prescription must
be accompanied by a written request from a physician.
All non-prescription, over-the-counter medication must be sent
in the original container with a written request from a parent or the
student’s physician. The child’s name should be on the medication container.
School Cafeteria
Students are encouraged to purchase meals in advance in lieu of
carrying cash daily. When a student’s account balance is low, a note
with an envelope will be sent home advising the parent that more meals
need to be purchased. It is recommended all breakfast/lunch payments
be made with a personal check or payments may also be made online at www.MealPay.com.
Students may also bring lunch from home. Please
label lunch boxes with your child’s name. Soda and fast food lunches
are discouraged.
Classroom Treats/Parties
To protect the health and safety of our students, students may
bring pre-packaged treats to school to share with classmates in recognition of
birthdays and other celebrations. Homemade treats may not be
distributed due to allergies and other food intolerances. As a
healthier alternative, Park Hill Food Service offers a variety of nutritious
treats that may be purchased and delivered to your student’s classroom.
Party invitations are only to be brought to school if they are
distributed to the entire class.

Fourth Grade Procedures
Assignment Books/Communication Folders
Assignment books will be used as a communication tool between
students, parents, and the teacher. It will contain important
classroom reminders, current learning goals, and is a calendar as
well. Each week we will use our agendas to mark important dates
(tests, district assessments, reminders, celebrations, speakers, etc). Your
child will bring the assignment book to you each day to be read and signed. Please
feel free to use the assignment book to write notes to the teacher since she
will sign it each day. The red communication folder will contain
important papers, notes, and graded work.
Home Learning
Learning takes place in the classroom and at home.
Teachers may assign additional learning opportunities to students on an
individual basis when extra practice on a skill is needed or for
enrichment. Fourth graders benefit immensely from reading and practicing
math facts each day. Work completed at home is not for the
purpose of assessing learning; students will receive teacher feedback on all
work completed in and outside of school. Due dates will be set to help with
time management.
E-Mail
We will use e-mail to communicate important events, upcoming
activities, and reminders. If your e-mail account/address changes
since you enrolled your child in school, please provide your classroom teacher
with this updated information.
Blog
This year fourth grade teachers will be highlighting
learning and curriculum on a classroom blog. Please visit the website/blog
frequently to discover what your child is learning in fourth grade. There
will be many curriculum related activities posted regularly. The
blog address is eaglenews4th.blogspot.com

Classroom Rules
In order to create a safe, happy
classroom environment, fourth grade students work together to create classroom
ground rules in each classroom.
If a child is disrupting the learning environment, the
following actions are taken:
· Warning
· Removal from group to “safe seat.”
· Removal from classroom to a “safe” place
to get control (buddy classroom).
· Recovery Room (discuss actions and
develop a plan for success with, Recovery Room Interventionist).
· A student may need to fill out a think sheet
if the teacher deems necessary. Think sheets will be sent home to be
signed by a parent and should be returned the next day.
